Candles

Candles were used as a replacement for oil lamps, which used plant oil or animal fat.

To make an oil lampwork a sting or wick was lit on fire and put in a shallow dish and the oil would combust to make a fire.

Last time it was fatty acids now it is waxing, called exothermic, the wick in candles is not what is burning, it is the oil that is being drawn up by the wick.

Oil lamps are just dishes of flammable oil with cotton in it, if you accidentally bump into it and then welp you got a fire in your house, the reason why candles were so good is that they turned the fuel into its own fire.

If you build the wick and the fuel correctly in a solid state you can make it so that when the flame at the top burns it burns the wax next to it will melt and will be taken up by the wick to combust causing it to light its fire

Greek fire

Greek fire was a substance that could burn submerged in water, but the way to make greek fire was lost to time because of how secretive the formula was, but it was a very powerful capability and was hard to put out and was used in 672 AD

Science

Livers can't be used for infinite money.
If you donate 70% of your Liver it will regow in a year, but you can't use it infinitely because it is not the same as the old natural organ.

When you have a liver you use stem cells, if you regrow a liver you just liver tissue which just multiplies to fill the gap, but if you donate 70% regrown liver it will not work with normal liver tissue.

Some birds light fires on purpose known as Firehawks, the birds included are:
The Black kite, The Whistling Kite, and the brown falcon.

People said that they saw the birds carrying burning twigs, scientists thought that they do it on accident but found out that they meant to cause fires, because it can help hunting because the fire and smoke can make animals be easier to kill.

And these flying Arsonists can spread fires up to a kilometer away, firefighters in Australia have to worry about human-caused wildfires and the Firehawks.

The Falkland's pt: 2

So hopefully you remember the last post well good because I won't explain it.

A merchant named Luis Vernet from the United Provinces of Rio de la Plata, Hamburg heard about the cattle on the Falklands.

He set up a "Private venture on the Falklands".

American ships started to kill wails in the ocean, and Vernet was not happy so he asked for help from Rio de la Plata, but instead of sending over people they just gave him guns and named him governor of the island, he seized the ships and arrested the crew of the wailers.

Then the US came by and destroyed his settlement, and the UK found out that Vernet was appointed governor of the island, now the United Provinces, now the argentine confederation, were claiming the island as their own.

And the UK was like hey we said we own it and kicked the Argentines off the island, and the UK had he remained in British hands for the next century, the cattle were not a lot so they imported sheep to the island in 1851.

Two world wars came and went and the Argentines never preceded their claim on the island.

Now it is in 1976, wars, military dictator leadership, sponsored by the US fought against communism.

In 1981 Leopoldo Gualtieri was in power in Argentina and they were losing money so he started a war in the Falklands, the British withdrew the HMS Endurance from the waters so Leo thought that if he took back the island then people would respect him.

So the Argentineans that the British won't do anything, they easily captured the South Georgia island 600 Argentinean troops were sent to the Falklands and the small amount of British army put up a bit of a fight, now the British found out that their island was taken over and Margaret Thatcher was a very controversial prime minister but a thing about her is that she was tough

She made an Exclusion zone around the Falklands and around 100 ships sailed to the Falklands,  the UN was concerned about the Argentinian invasion, and all south American counties backed Argentina except chile, so the US president at the time Reagan, went to Thatcher and said: "maybe just let Argentia have the island?" she said "no", Reagan "here have  gun".

Fighting a war 8000 miles or 12874.75 km from their home was a challenge, they used civilian ships and cruise ships, cargo ships, and used Ascension Island as their base, by the time the British landed in the Falklands the Argentines had time to landmine and trench up the island, the British wanted to get superiority, on the 2nd a British submarine sand an Argentine cruiser, it happened outside the British Exclusion zone, as the sinking made the Argentines leave the island, and the British started to get air superiority, but the Argentines controlled the skies and was able to do damage on the royal navy below, the British sea harriers (airplanes) were trying their best to destroy as much Argentinan fighter planes.

San Carlos was chosen as the British landing point on the Falklands an SAS raid took out argentine defenses in pebble island, the landing happened on May 21st, with argentine airplanes attacking the British ships and sinking a few.

The British were fighting more Argentinan soldiers but most of the Argentineans surrendered.

The 14-hour-long battle for goose green on the night of May 28th.

with 5000 reinforcements preparing to attack port Stanley, the Argentines were forced to withdraw their troops, on the 14th of June the Argentines gave up and surrendered, the war is over a month-long war and lost thousands of people.

Now the British own the island and they found oil near the island so the they won't give up the island.

Science pt: 5

The Palo verde tree can survive in places that most plants can't.

Found in Mexico The Joshua tree can fall over in rainy seasons due to water.

The palo verde is not succulent because they drop their leaves, the palo verde is bright green and has small leaves, the small leaves can help with losing water through the leaves.

The palo verde loses its leaves every year but, they lose their leaves when it is hot and dry, it takes a lot to sustain leaves so they drop thier leaves.

The green. trunk uses stem photosynthesis, meaning they don't need leaves to produce food.

Science pt: 4

The sea will never get saltier because the ocean gets saltier than rivers.

Changing water changes the saltiness the nearer you get to the equator it's saltier but since on the equator, it rains a lot so on the equator it's less than on the border.

since roughly the same amount of salt is added and taken away throughout the years the salty levels say consistant
