Minhaj al Muslim By Sh Tariq Appleby pt: 17

A person asked the prophet "Who is the most deserving of my companionship" and the prophet said "Your mother".
The person asked again "who is the most deserving of my companion ship", the prophet responded again "Your mother", then again he asked "Who is the most deserving of my companion ship", he said "Your mother".

He asked one more time "Who is the most deserving of my companion ship", the prophet responded "your father.

The reason why is that childbirth and having the baby in the womb for 9 months are very exhausting parts of childbirth, and then labour and then childbirth.

Minhaj al Muslim By Sh Tariq Appleby pt: 16

The prophet said that the highest level of Iman is that you love the prophet more than yourself.

You are not looking forward to an exam to test that you are unprepared for, but if you are prepared then you will look forward to the test or exam.

Minhaj al Muslim By Sh Tariq Appleby pt: 15

Righteousness is not turning your face toward the East or the West,  righteousness is those who believe in Allah.

Allah knows everything that will happen, and what did happen, it was all written down already.

Don't say that we will live forever, we will eventually die.

One time Bedouins came to the prophet and asked him, "What is the best gift for a man", he responded with "Good Character".

Minhaj al Muslim By Sh Tariq Appleby pt: 14

A Muslim that does sins, does not permit him from being kicked from Islam, one of the only sins that take a Muslim out of Islam.

You are not allowed to fully stop sleeping to pray, although you will get pahalah for doing it, it is much worse in the long term compared to the short term.
You can pray the whole night, but don't do it so often, otherwise, your body will be angry at you.

Minhaj al Muslim By Sh Tariq Appleby pt: 13

For battles you need people to be in the background, to help with food, help the wounded, check the vehicles, and check weapons.

Most females in Islam during the war, helped with the war in any way they could. They check the weapons (maybe forge a few), feed horses, making food for the fighting people.

And war is hard, also most people died not in war, but outside of war, due to disease, and bugs that could kill.

Minhaj al Muslim By Sh Tariq Appleby pt: 12

If you have spent the last 35 years reading one Juz a day from the Quran, you may have and during those 35 you could maybe memorize a few Juz without even intending to memorize it, since if you read something 100 - 200 times then obviously you are gonna memorize some of it.

Minhaj al Muslim By Sh Tariq Appleby pt: 11

We cannot deceive people except in warfare, as it is a war tactic.

Young people are more accepting of the truth.

Most people accepted Islam during the prophet's time. Were young people, as Young people are more accepting of new things than old people.

Most of the youths who followed Prophet Musa were orphans, and there was only a small amount of them as they were scared of that the Pharoh would kill them.

Minhaj al Muslim By Sh Tariq Appleby pt: 10

Allah grants kingship to whoever He wills.

It is not allowed for a person who knows about the scripture, wisdom, and prophethood to say to people "worship me instead of Allah." That is not good.

You cannot say "become servants to me instead of Allah."

Minhaj al Muslim By Sh Tariq Appleby pt: 9

Nothing can protect you from the day of Judgement.

Muslims often don't follow Allah because of "science".

Muslims are meant to protect and help each other. For example, when a Muslim country was at the war, other Muslim countries came to help by giving aid, or by giving money to help with war times.

Part of Imam is such as removing something harmful from the path, say a big log in the middle of a country road.

Muslims are meant to look after each other as if a fellow Muslim is lacking in sleep such as sleeping a 2am and waking up at 4am a Muslim should advise that fellow Muslim to get some sleep.

Minhaj al Muslim By Sh Tariq Appleby pt: 8

Learn the things that are important. Such as the Quran and Sunnah.

Wealth and fame are special if you are very successful or very famous, you might not be a good Muslim (who prays on time, who fasts).

If you are only doing what you do because of your parents, or if you are doing what you are doing because of money. It is important to do things for the sake of Allah.

You are accountable for yourself. So you can't blame other people for your sins.

Minhaj al Muslim By Sh Tariq Appleby pt: 7

Allah is infinite in forgiveness, and he knows everything about you and what you would do.

There is a difference between Greater sins and Lesser sins, you can use good deeds like praying can wipe away most lesser sins.

You wipe away the greatest sins by doing Taubaht.

Ayatul Kursi is the best Surah in the Quran. Because Ayatul Kursi says that it is only about Allah and nothing else, it is all all about his greatness, and about his blessings.

To believe in Allah is the best deed,  it is the best thing in Islam.

Jihad is the second, to fight for the sake of Allah.

Haji is the third and to not show off to others that you went to Haji. and do not boast but purely for Allah.

Islam is built on five pillars:

Testifying that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah.

And that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.

Praying five times a day.

paying Zakat.

doing Haji.

And Fasting in Ramadhan.

Minhaj al Muslim By Sh Tariq Appleby pt: 7

The people who use the Quran are the people trying to reach Allah.

People have different views about life and death.

The best guidance is from the Prophet Muhammad. The Quran has the best speech.

Minhaj al Muslim By Sh Tariq Appleby pt: 6

Ar-Riq is slavery, there are people very rich in the Islamic years, and there was a slave that appointed governors and had his own palace. When you think about slavery you think of the American civil war, and the African slave trade, and... Yeah that, well in the Islamic years, there is a lot of baggage compared to how it was in the Islamic years.

Islam does not promote slavery, no ayats about it. But there are laws about slavery, when the prophet was around slavery was common, in Islam, there are laws about slavery and how to treat them well.

Islam encourages freeing slaves, but Islam does not condone slavery.

The only time that Muslims are allowed to take slaves is in war, as a mercy to keep people safe from the fighting to take them and put them in a safe place away from the war until they can be liberated.

Slaves are one of the parts of Zakat.

Minhaj al Muslim By Sh Tariq Appleby pt: 5

Killing people is bad (that's a general consensus) and would definitely count as a sin but in self-defense or someone breaking into your house and you defend yourself and the result that is that the aggressor killed then it is not a sin.

It is a big sin to kill another believer.

Blood Money is what is money given by the family of the murderer as compensation for the murder to the victim's family (it is not the person back from the dead but it is compensation nonetheless).

Intentional Murder

Murder with the intention of killing, meaning you are killing that person with items such as weapons or with poisons, etc. It is all bad.

You cannot kill a pregnant mother you have to wait for the baby to be born and then when the baby is born, and then the mother will be killed.

If you want to kill someone or execute someone, you should not cause excessive pain to the victim of the execution, it should be quick and as painless as possible, as decapitation is the main form of killing as it is instantaneous.

We want to hurt that person but no intention is not murder

you are not sinful but it is recommended to give blood money.

Murder by Mistake

If you kill someone in a car accident, or you drop something on someone's head and kill them it is not your fault, or a knife gets loose and it hits a person and they die you are also not at fault as it was a mistake, or if you are hunting with guns and a person walks in front of a shotgun slug then it is not your fault either. (It is recommended to pay blood money though).

Retaliation

Retaliation is when you, yourself retaliate against the murderer.
First, you need to know that the murderer is of sound mind (meaning being sane), a child before puberty, and a sleeping person. Those are the types of people you cannot retaliate to. You also cannot kill your children.

If you want blood money, you cannot retaliate. You cannot kill anyone else in retaliation other than the murderer.

Retribution

If you chop off someone's finger, then when you are caught your finger would be chopped off. if that was used, it would be very bad, even Saudi Arabia doesn't follow this specific law because it is too cruel. f you chop off someone's finger, then when you are caught your finger would be chopped off. if that was used, it would be very bad, even Saudi Arabia doesn't follow this specific law because it is too cruel.

If the person who chopped off the finger then you must chop yours off, but if it difficult to replicate the problem says a concussion it is hard to replicate so you don't have to do that.

Minhaj al Muslim By Sh Tariq Appleby pt: 4

It is not ok to swear by anything other than Allah.

Al- Ghumus is a person who intentionally swears a lie, such as lying to get a lower price at a market.

Do not make Oaths about small things, like "I will not go to the gym" (then you go the gym, so broke your oath), do not make oaths in anger "if you lose this i will do such and such".

Don't make Oaths like "if this happens then I will fast for one month", "don't do that, why make it harder for yourself".

Minhaj al Muslim By Sh Tariq Appleby pt: 3

The inheritors must be alive on the day of the death of the person who is leaving the inheritance. So if one of a woman's children dies and she has an unborn child in her womb, this unborn child has the right to inherit from its brother (who dies) if it is born alive. This is due to the fact that it was certainly alive( in the womb)  on the day of its brothers' death. If the woman conceived the baby after the death of its brother, the baby has no right to inherit from his brother who died, because he was not created(conceived) until after ( the brother's death)

The Felmale Inheritors:

1. The wife.
2. The female manumitter (who frees a slave).
3. The relatives: and they are of three categories. The parental woman: they are the mother and the grandmother on either the mother's or the father's side. The offspring and are the daughters, the son's daughter (granddaughter), and any descending female grandchildren (i.e, through the male),. The kin: and this is the and this is the female relative, who is only the sister.

Note: The maternal and perinatal aunts, the daughter's daughter (granddaughter)(, the daughter's son (grandson), the brother's daughter (niece), and the uncle's daughter (cousin) do not inherit at all.

Minhaj al Muslim By Sh Tariq Appleby pt: 2

It is not permissible for a woman who believes in Allah and the last day to morn for more than three days except for her husband, who she morns for four months and ten days

Stay in your house in which the news of your husband's death reaches will until the prescribed waiting period expires.

Verily, their right upon you is that you provide them with food and clothing in a reasonable manner.

Minhaj al Muslim By Sh Tariq Appleby pt: 1

Mahr is part of the Marriage contract, the Mahr is recommended to be simple / not complicated.

The Prophet's daughter's dowry was 400 or 500 dirhams or (136.13 USD, it is Sunnah to mention the Mahr in the wedding contract, and the Mahr is valid as any lawful thing of value whose value is more than one-fourth of a dinar, It is not only for the money you can also teach the Mahr or you can give a gift, it does not have to be something of monetary value it can be a skill, teaching the Quran or language, you can do any of those things if the bride accepts the gift instead of a gift.

Invite the poor when you have a wedding because the poor people will appreciate the meals from the wedding more than others.

You must accept Invitations to a wedding, even if you are not going to eat.

You must announce the wedding.
