The word paper comes from the word "Papyrus", as they pressed pieces of papyrus together.
In ancient china, paper-makers made thick rough sheets of paper by combining chopped bark, water, plants, and fishing nets, and were left to patch in the sun.
Today paper is created of wood chips mixed with a chemical to soften the wood, and most of it is removed until only the long fibers are left creating some kind of pulp, the pulp is then it is spread on a converter belt blasted with hot air to dry and flatten it by rollers to make the paper that is utilized today.
