TURN ON THE LIGHTBULB PLEASE

When you wanted light you had to light a flame and put it on a candle, there were drawbacks to using a candle, because if it was a small flame then it would not be so bright, while a big flame definitely dangerous.

Thomas Edison wanted to make something that created light using electricity.

Thomas and aided by his own personal research team started work on making the light bulb, the main idea was to pass the electricity through a wire-like substance, named filament, causing it to glow.

They started by finding different substances for the filament, they started by making the filament out of platinum, but they scraped the idea because platinum is expensive, and would cost consumers lots of money, but there were some problems such as the weakness of the light, it being expensive for consumers to purchase, and some that did not last long before the light broke.

After hundreds of failed attempts, they finally found the substance capable of passing electricity so that it glowed, was strong enough to not break so soon and was inexpensive, their solution?.

Bamboo, the plant being cheap and easy to find, as well as a renewable object, with long strong fibers that would glow much more and would last quite long before burning out than most of the tried and failed prototypes of filament.

Thomas was finally able to market and produce his product that took years to make, failed prototype after failed prototype, he finally found the filament to make it a reality.

After all, a light bulb is a symbol of a great idea.
