Math pt. 1: Multiply powers

Squaring a number means taking that number and multiplying it by itself, so 4^2  would be 16 since 4 x 4 = 16.

How - and + in math work like this, if you have -4^2 you would get -16, while 4^2 = be 16, now why is that, well if you add two minutes ( -40 + -20) you would get a minus (-60)
now, if both integers are plus (40+20), you would get (60). 

So if you say 4^6 it would be 4096.

So if you do 4y^4y it would be 256y^4 (or 4y times 4x4x4).
